March 27, 2016 | Leave a comment Having had a hectic month or two with a lot of weekends away, planning a big holiday (that’s now only four weeks away with a lot of planning left to do!) progress has been slow but eventually I finished the dry run fitting, re-fitting, fettling and final fitting before taking everything apart for the final assembly, this time with lashings of grease per the manual. Now I have something that’s starting to look like it might be a car at last. Fitted are: Both pairs of lower wishbones complete with polyurethane bushes from Superflex Both lower wishbone bracing plates, powder coated black Both front springs with upper & lower mounts sprayed black Both upper pivot bars Upper wishbones with balljoints Left and right steering knuckles and stub axles Steering rack Left to complete is setting the height of the steering rack using spacers per the manual and then attaching both track-rod ends to the steering knuckles. Once that’s done I can actually think about putting the front hubs on and maybe even some wheels (assuming I can get a set of build wheels or get my set back that I lent out a couple of years ago) I also gave the rear A-arm mounting point some attention – the powder coat was starting to bubble indicating rust underneath so I scraped everything loose off, ran a tap through the threaded holes, installed some temporary bolts and sprayed the part up with Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. In fact, it’s about time I went out and gave it a second coat..
