February 23, 2012 | Leave a comment I thought it was about time I wrote something by way of an update – only there really isn’t anything to update you all about yet. The chassis is still scheduled for the week of the 13th of March, and I still need to get an engine trailered up to Dax to be used as an engine mount jig – it’s looking increasingly unlikely that I’ll manage to get the tow bar fitted to my own car, so I’ll have to call in a favour and borrow a friend’s car for a day or so. Aside from that, I’ve paid the remainder of the costs for the chassis – despite the tax man deciding he wanted a couple of grand off me for my hard work over the year – so now I just need to find the money for a body and the rest of the chassis pack. I’ve been tool buying, as well. After testing out my compressor with my shiny new air impact wrench I discovered that said air impact wrench was actually completely non functional – there’s a lesson there about buying cheap tools, I think. So now I’ve gone out and bought a decent quality air impact wrench and air ratchet, both of which are fantastic tools, and tested the air nibbler and air drill. I’m told there’s also an air rivet tool on it’s way to me (thanks, Dad!) and a 2 ton ceiling hoist, too. Other than that my time in the garage has been spent working on other peoples cars – my old turbo kit from the MR2 has been fitted to a friends car over the course of a couple of weekends, and my beloved (though woefully unreliable) Nissan 300ZX has been sold to make way for the incoming chassis 🙁 I did at least find time to put the posters up and attach my (new) bench vice to the workbench…
